Bezel Template Set - Triangle

These templates are a quick, easy and economical answer to creating metal clay or polymer clay bezels for cubic zirconia, lab created or other fireable gemstones in standard sizes of 6mm and larger. Each template has two bezel wall thicknesses for each size of gemstone, depending upon whether you want a smaller, narrow bezel, or a larger, wider bezel. Stone sizes in mm are listed on the left side of the template with 2 corresponding bezel wall thicknesses in mm listed on the right. Calibrated Bezel Template Instructions

Bezel Templates

Match your stone to the stone size (left). This hole will be used for the first cut which is also the inside seat for your gemstone.

Choose your desired bezel wall thickness (right). This cut will be the outside wall of the bezel.

1. Place your gemstone on your work surface. With the culet side up, determine the depth of the bezel required. Stack our rolling frames until they are the same height of the gemstone. Use the snake roller to verify. If the snake roller touches the stone, add more rolling frames.

2. Place a lump of fresh metal clay onto the work surface. Using the snake roller, press down onto the clay creating a pancake.

3. Choose the template that matches your gemstone in both size and shape.

4. Using the stone size of the template, place the template on the slab of clay, press down slightly. Cut and remove the clay from the template. It is important to hold the ultra clay pick at an angle that roughly matches the angle of the culet. This will keep the gemstone from falling through the back of the bezel.

5. Refine the angle and remove any additional excess clay.

6. Place your gemstone into the opening.

7. Using the snake roller press down on the gemstone to seat it into the clay. It is a good idea to brush the clay with water at this point to help the clay stay moist. This prevents possible cracking of the metal clay.

8. Remove the rolling frames. Using the template, choose the wall thickness you desire for the specific gemstone you are using. Center the template around the stone and press down slightly.
